Miracle Berries

Miracle Berries

PSFK points us to this WSJ article about Miracle Berries, which make everything sour taste sweet:

Within minutes of consuming the berries, guests were devouring lime wedges as if they were candy. Straight lemon juice went down like lemonade, and goat cheese tasted as if it was “covered in powdered sugar,” said one astonished partygoer.

Jacob Grier and David Barzelay post their personal accounts of the experience, and The Guardian highlights its use for diets in Japan. For a lot more information, check out this history of the miracle berry.

This is without doubt the most amazing thing I’ve heard in the last few months. I clearly have to organize a miracle berry party at some point. It also makes me wonder how many other fantastic plants we don’t know about yet…

PS: here’s a link to the WSJ version of the article, but it will expire in the coming days. Doh!

New Bravia commercial

Another wonderful Sony Bravia ad — although I still like the Balls commercial better, mainly because of the music.

Cannes Lion winners

The Cannes Lions site has posted this year’s winners. Go ahead, waste an afternoon watching brilliant commercials from around the world.

Nike Skateboard ad

A great Nike Skateboard ad.

Salt and sound

Awesome video of sound waves causing patterns to appear in a pile of salt. Watch out, the sound gets very high pitched so you may want to turn your speakers down/off.

Honda commercials

For a Honda showroom, Dutch artist Paul Veroude disassembled and suspended an F1 car. The Design Weblog gives us some prior art for this idea. Speaking of Honda, here is a video of the making of the Cog commercial I posted about a while back.

The iDeck is an attempt to revive album art in the digital age. I would definitely buy one of these if they were ever produced.
