New telemark binding design

New design for telemark bindings. Of course, this comes just after I bought tele-boots. Oh well…

As part of their Simplicity ad campaign, Philips has asked a number of Time publications to print the table of contents on the cover. Benefits the reader, and ties in nicely with the campaign message.

Simple cellphone… but not in the US

The Motorola C116 is a super simple and user-friendly phone, but unfortunately it isn’t available in the US because being designed for third world countries, it is deemed too cheap.

A University of Memphis professor recently banned laptops from her class. I think this is a great idea, as I can personally attest that my laptop lowered my attention in class.

Google Calendar

I make a point of not posting immediately about Google launches, as I don’t want to be a source of Google info. This being said, it’s about time I mentioned Google Calendar. Congrats to Mike Bolin for launching a great product!

Octopi simulate jointed limbs

Octopi are really cool: apparently they can contract their tentacles so as to simulate a jointed limb. Most interesting comment of the article:

It also suggests that articulated limbs with joints may be the best evolutionary solution for such motion, the researchers argue. After all, the flexible octopus has unlimited options for that movement.
